Interstate 15 northbound in Southwest Utah
January 27, 2009

Windshield view of Southwest Utah
[Long highway view with mountains in distance.]

A closer view of the snow-capped mountains
[The mountains have some snow at different levels on the mountains so there is white and grey going up the mountain side. The road is clear of snow, but there is a blanket of snow across the fields.]

Echo Reservoir, Utah (located alongside Interstate 80 in Eastern Utah)
August 9, 2012

Eastern view of Echo Reservoir
[The edges of the reservoir nestled in the mountains can be seen due to low water levels.]

Dried lake-bed on the western edge of the reservoir
[Some water sits in the middle of a series of ridges in the dirt that is normally the bottom of the reservoir. Grass and some buildings are seen in the distance.]

A more expansive view of the western edge of the reservoir
[TWo photos stitched together creating a colorful expanse. On the far right is the hillside into which I-80 was paved and traffic can be seen along it. The right-most edge of the reservoir is lush with green grass. The center of the reservoir bed has a very small pond which is surrounded by dried dirt. On the far side are hills dotted with green vegetation. In the far distance are mountains with puffy clouds above them.]

Echo Canyon rest area - Interstate 80 in Eastern Utah
September 20, 2013

Canyon wall looking westward on the highway.
[Several photos stitched together. The canyon wall is a series of segmented cliffs rising hundreds of feet above the roadway. The road runs through a natural low point in this area.]

This image overlaps with the leftmost part of the prior image and continues westward. (Building with conical roof is part of rest area going westward.)
[At this portion of the canyon wall the segmented cliffs transition to smoother flatter hills.]

Canyon wall looking eastward toward Wyoming.
[Continuation of the segmented red rock dwarfing the vehicles on the interstate.]

Closer view of the canyon wall
[Red segmented rock has green vegetation growing in rows across it where there are ledges. The very top of the rock is grass-covered. All this dwarfs the roadway at the base of the walls.]

Looking down the steep walkway to the rest area. (My car is one of the specks on the right.)
[The walkway disappears out of view midway through the image where it drops into the canyon. The rest stop and road are seen over the hillside on the right.]
