Along the trail to view the Thomas Creek bridge
[The hillside is covered in ferns and several trees curve as they grow from the ground.]

Behind the tree is Thomas Creek Bridge. At 345 feet hight, it is the tallest bridge in Oregon. In the lower left are drift longs beside the creek bed.
[The light-green structural steel of the bridge is visible behind the limbs of a tall, multi-limbed spruce.]

Bridge on Cape Ferrelo (New bridge was set over the prior bridge.)
[Wooden bridge with railings covers a gap of approximately 15 feet. The surface of the old bridge with only one edge attached lies beneath the current bridge.]

Ferns on trail at Cape Ferrelo
[Light green ferns stand completely upright and open as if they are fans stuck into the hillside.]

Guess which way the wind blows at Cape Ferrelo. (The ocean is to the right of this image.)
[Trees on a hillside seem to only have branches on the land side and none on the ocean side.]

A sunset view in Boardman State Park
[Sun rays leaking through the dark cloud cover to light portions of the water.]

- - - - - south of Boardman State Park - Brookings, Oregon - July 25, 2012 - - - - -

Shoreline south of Boardman State Park (The ocean tosses lots of drift logs back to shore.)
[A low tide view of a number of rocks only a few hundred yards from the shore (and would be visible in both low and high tide) and a sand beach with a large expanse of sea logs piled on it. This beach is enclosed on three sides by the surrounding rocky hillside.]

A black oystercatcher and a western gull
[A black bird with a long, pointy orange beak and orange legs stands in the wet sand. A gull lays on its belly nearby.]

Cormorants on a sea stack
[The outline of two birds can be seen atop the rock outcropping surrounding by water. Wave froth is in the foreground.]

Powerful low tide waves
[Powerful waves approximately 3 foot high send water spray about 8 foot high.]

The sun finds a break in the clouds over the water.
[A section of water just in front of one sea stack rock is lit while the area around it is darkened by clouds.]

Harris Creek outflow into the ocean isn't quite as noticeable at low tide, but the rocks it brings down from the hillsides are.
[An irregular flow of water through a mass of large stones, driftwood, and seaweed.]

The dots of pink and blue in the middle of the image are two people sitting on a drift log.
[Low tide view of the beach full of pieces of wood. Large, fractured rock sits in the background of the image with a some ocean water visible to the right.]

Ocean growth brought to the beach by the tides.
[Many long tubular growths all tangled with each other lay on the beach among the stones and driftwood.]

Colorful rock at Harris Beach State Park
[Orange gold red rock with fractured edges sits on the sand.]
