Second page of Niagara Falls views from both the American side and the Canadian side

Niagara River seen from the New York State Park Visitor Center (looking upriver). The mist in the distance in the center is from Horseshoe Falls. (Feb. 2008)
[Frozen Niagara River as seen from NY Visitor Center - looking upstream]

Niagara River seen from the railing near Horseshoe Falls (looking downriver). To the right of the Rainbow Bridge in the distance is the New York State Park Visitor Center from which I shot the prior image. The mist to the right of the bridge is from American Falls. (Feb. 2008)
[Frozen Niagara River as seen from railing near Horseshoe Falls - looking downstream.]

Maid of Mist tour boats do not run all year for obvious reasons. (Feb. 2008)
[Maids of Mist boats docked against the river's edge above the ice.]

Mist blown from the falls froze on the railing by Horseshoe Falls. (Feb. 2009)
[Icicles hanging from railing metalwork.]

Horseshoe Falls viewed from Niagara Falls, Ontario. (Feb. 2008)
[Horseshoe Falls at Niagara Falls, Ontario.]

Ice chips going over Horseshoe Falls. (Feb. 2008)
[Closer view of ice chips in Horseshoe Falls water.]

Rainbow over Horseshoe Falls created by the mist and the reason for the name of the bridge connecting the two countries. (Feb. 2009)
[View of rainbow extending from top of the falls to the buildings on the left in a portrait view.]

Another view of the rainbow over Horseshoe Falls (Feb. 2009)
[This landscape view includes the tower on the left as the rainbow extends from the top of the falls to the buildings on the left. The rainbow colors are more distinct just above the water and fade as the bow gets closer to the buildings.]

The sign says 'Walkway Not Maintained In Winter Season' which is not a concern for pedestrians this winter day. (Feb. 2009)
[Just behind the sign in the image is a brick-paved walkway on a hillside above the water leading to Horseshoe Falls. There is quite a bit of brown grass visible amid the snow on the grass, but the walkway is completely clear of snow.]

Upstream of Horseshoe Falls sits this scow which became stranded and stuck in the rapids in August 1918. The men on it were rescued, but the scow has yet to move for more than 90 years. (Feb. 2009)
[A barge sits not moving in the choppy ice-laden water which is headed toward the falls. There are lots of whitecaps in the water, but the scow sits there like a rock.]

Niagara Gorge and Niagara Whirlpool north (and downstream) of the falls seen from Ontario, Canada. (Feb. 2008)
[Two images spliced together to give the expansive view of both the Niagara Gorge near the Whirlpool and the whirlpool area which is like a lake but with high walls (cliffs) around it.]
