Aztec Ruins National Monument - Aztec, New Mexico
(Aztec is the name of the location and does not refer to the Aztecs of Central Mexico.)
September 18, 2008

Part of the excavated ruins
[Several photographs stitched together to display a large adobe brick structure with what appears to be at least two dozen rooms in one row.]

A different part of the ruins showing the brick detail.
[Partial wall remains are at different heights in different sections of the buildings which seem to be interconnected. While individual bricks are visible, they are 'cemented' together to create walls. There is dirt and grass and a designated path in the center of this section of buildings.]

Bands of green blocks used in the structure.
[Within the rows of light-brown bricks are two horizontal segments with green bricks. These green bricks seem to be thinner bricks.]

Inner doorways
[A series of aligned interior doorways which pass through several rooms and to the outside light at the far end.]

Petroglyph National Monument - Albuquerque, New Mexico
Piedras Marcadas Canyon section of the park
September 20, 2008

These images were carved on the rock an estimated 400-700 years ago.
[Dark brown rock with tan sympbols etched on the surface.]

Another rock with carvings
[This rock has what appears to be lizard symbols on it in multiple places.]

A hare with large ears disappeared seconds after I shot this image.
[The back left-side view of this rabbit family member which has large upright ears on its head. It has large, somewhat bulging, eyes and fur in shades of dark brown. It sits on the dirt ground with brushy vegetation only a foot or so away.]

Balloonist I noticed while traversing the park.
[Multi-colored balloon high in the blue sky above the mountain range.]

New Mexico State Fair - Albuquerque, New Mexico
September 19, 2008

New Mexico State Fairgrounds buildings
[Adobe style buildins with red pepper garland decorations.]

Tree-lined street at New Mexico state fairgrounds
[Large mature fully-leafed trees in a row down the road. Each has a single trunk which then branches in several directions about six foot in the air.]
