Lake Pend Oreille in the northern panhandle of Idaho

Lake Pend Oreille near Hope, Idaho
[A sparkling lake view as the sun relects off the water. The lake is huge and appears to have nooks and crannies as there are hillsides sticking out into the water. The sky has puffy white clouds in a few places.]

Snowberries near the water's edge
[The green plants have mutiple clumps of white berries.]

Lake Pend Oreille as viewed from Sandpoint City Beach
[Looking across a large and what appears to be a very deep body of water. There are mountains on the far side with lots of white clouds near the tops of the mountains but not necessarily all over the sky.]

Schweitzer Mountain Resort - Sandpoint, Idaho
June 17, 2007

View from the ski lift looking down at the resort and at Lake Pend Oreille.
[The support poles and overhead rails of ski lift are on teh right side of the image. There are evergreens all over the ground below except where the resort buildings are located. In the distance are the meanderings of the lake waters.]

Homes on the ski lift hill
[Amid the tall evergreens are multi-story chalet-style houses.]

Cabinet Mountains
[A scenic view with close mountain peaks in clear view and ones further in the distance with some bits of scattered snow on them a bit greyed.]

Tall tree trunks along the trail at the top of the mountain
[More than a half-dozen white tree trunks stick up into the sky. There are some evergreens with greenery on them, but these one ones are basically just the tree trunk and a few short branches.]

The elevation here is high enough there is still snow on the trail in mid-June.
[Lots of tall evergreens on either side of the trail. There is a huge deep chunk of snow approximately six feet long on the trail.]

Part of Lake Pend Oreille viewed from the top of the mountain.
[The lake and islands are hazy due to the distance and air quality. The trees along the mountain are green and clear.]

Lake Pend Oreille rail (1 mile long) and motor (nearly 2 miles long) bridges
[Looking down the hill to the sliver of lake visible in this location. There are lots of evergreen covered low mountains on the other side of the bridge. The bridge curves as it goes across the water. A railroad section goes straight across a short section while the rest of the bridge turns to connect another shore.]
