Petrified Forest National Park - Arizona
April 2004 and September 23, 2008

A log chunk petrified and became this colorful rock.
[The center rock is mostly white with red, orange, and blue stripes running from top to bottom. A distance away from the center rock are other rock chunks which are either red or brown based with colored stripes in them. The ground around is devoid of greenery.]

Petrified rocks on the valley floor (There used to be many more, but, prior to laws against doing it, people took home "souvenirs".)
[Looking out over a vast valley with many dots of darker color against the light color of the ground. All those dark dots are pieces of petrified wood.]

The wood became stone.
[A close view of one hunk of rock that still seems to have some of the rings from when it was wood. The rock is mostly brown, but there are some light grey sections stuck in it.]

Sedona, Arizona
April 2004

Bell Rock
[A lone many-layered red rock rises from the ground in the shape of a bell. There are some green spots on it (growing vegetation), but it is prodominately red. There are trees all along the ground between the parking lot (where this image was taken) and Bell Rock. The top half of a white van in the parking lot is visible at the bottom edge of the photo. The sky is light blue with some white clouds at the level of the top of the trees and extends partway up the rock.]

Other rocks in the Sedona area
[Cliffs of layered red rock with dark green spots on them spans the entire image. There is more vegetation at the lower levels of the cliffs. Photo was taken at the floor level of the cliffs looking at them from a distance.]

Sedona scenery
[Rocks and cliffs of different heights pepper the image. The ones in the distance are more of a tan color than red. All rocks have dark green dots of vegetation on them.]

Pinetop, Arizona
December 22, 2012

Wild horse on the golf course in Pinetop
[Horse is facing the camera as it appears to nibble on a small tree in front of it. The mane coming over its ears is dark brown and parted so a section goes toward each eye. The dark tail is wafting in the wind.]

[Side view of the horse as it walks away from the camera. A clump of aspen trunks forms the backdrop in the snow of this scene.]
