Detail of Ontario Legislative Building
[The stone building has round stone on the corners of a section at the end of the building. That section also has a round window with stone decorations on it. The stone around the window also appears to have a design chiseled in it.]

Detail of floor tile inside
[The floor is comprised of small mosaic tiles fashioned into intricate designs. Individual tiles are shades of green, white, red, and orange.]

Detail of ceiling inside
[White glass panels have a pattern outlined in gold and in the center is a crest with animals and a shield in it. These panels let natural light into the building.]

Interior door to a legislative chamber
[A wooden structure borders a small alcove with wooden columns. The doors are wood and the window in the doors and around the doors are stained glass.]

One of the overhead lights
[A chandelier hangs from the ceiling with ten conical bulbs at the end. Above those bulbs are a different type of light. The entire thing is quite ornate, but stately.]

In Toronto, Ontario, I switched to the Canadian rail system riding a My VIA train. It was my home for three days.
March 1-3, 2008

My seat for the trip
[A double-wide padded seat up against a wall with a large window beside it. A duffle bag and a coat sit on the seat.]

The headrest flipped up to a shelf and the seat cushions came together to create the lower berth which had a window for one's star-gazing pleasure. (White window shade is down for photo.)
[The duffle bag sits on the shelf. A green blanket is across the seat cushions and there is a hanging pocket on the wall. The white window shade is barely visible.]

The upper berth was above the window. A special key was inserted into the hole above the number and the berth came down to be level with the upper part of the window. (The upper berth is down in the prior photo.)
[A white curved casing extends from the window to the ceiling.]

This is the shower kit displayed on my pillow on the upper berth (where I slept the first night). The chain supporting the berth is visible at the upper left edge of the towel. A ladder is provided to access this berth.
[The shower kit rest against the folded white towels. Kit includes soap, shampoo, rinse, mouthwash, and earplugs. Bedding is a shade of green.]
