Oregon Route 58 pulloff on the way to Crater Lake (between Eugene and Crescent City)
September 23, 2011

Cascade Mountains
[Grey mountains with snow scattered in multiple valleys on the mountains. A sea of evergreens sits in front of the mountains.]

My car gives you an idea of the height of the trees.
[Mid-sized car on paved pulloff beside road with nearby evergreens dwarfing the car.]

U. S. Route 20 - Central Oregon
July 23, 2012

Mount Jefferson is the second highest peak in Oregon at nearly 10,500 feet elevation.
[Several photos stitched together showing more of the foreground and the land on either side of the mountain than the photo above it.]

Left to right are Broken Top, South Sister, Middle Sister, and North Sister. The Sisters are the 3rd, 4th, and 5th highest peaks in Oregon and all over 10,000 feet. Combined they have 15 named glaciers on them.
[Several photos stitched together - The Three Sisters are three mountains heavily (but not completely) covered in snow. Two of the 'Sisters' are nearly atop each other while the third sister is a short distance to the left. Even further to the left is Broken Top which is much smaller and less snow covered than the other three.]

Three Fingered Jack
[Top of this mountain are several bumps which appear to be like the knuckles on a hand. There is no snow on that part of the mountain but there is snow at lower levels of it. In the foreground is a mass of evergreens and a home.]

Mount Washington with the remnants of a 2003 (nine years prior) lightening-caused forest fire in the foreground (More than 90,000 acres burned in the fire.)
[Two photos stitched together showing a partially snow-covered mountain with the remanants of a forest fire (lots of tree trunks with no branches) in the foreground.]

Cache Mountain (no snow) on left and Mount Washington on the right (After storms dump precipitation on Mount Washington, there's little precipitation left for inland mountains.)
[Photos stitched together with snowless Cache Mountain on the left looking almost as tall as the glacier laden Mt. Washington on the right. Forest fire evidence all throughout the foreground.]

Oregon Route 22 - Central Oregon
July 23, 2012

My car is parked in the shade on the left under these very tall trees.
[View of the roadway with an automobile which is dwarfed by the evergreens on either side of the roadway.]

A busy bee at the pulloff in the prior photo
[Close-up of stamen protruding from five-petalled yellow flowers. A bee feasts on one on the far right.]

Santiam River at mile marker 60
[A wide very shallow waterway with very tall trees on the right and numerous rocks visible in the water. The roadway follows around the curve of the river on the left.]
