Fremont Older Open Space Preserve
August, September, and October 2005

Hunter's Point view in August
[A hilltop with trees and low grasses is between the camera and the Santa Clara Valley full of streets, homes, and trees. In the far distance through the haze one can see mountains.]

Hunter's Point view in September with the morning haze
[A hilltop with trees and low grasses is between the camera and the Santa Clara Valley which has a white streak over it. In the far distance above the white streak the tops of the mountains are visible.]

Hunter's Point view in a different day in September
[Two images stitched together showing more of the hilltops in the foreground and more of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. There is a string of white clouds which appear to be over the distant mountains. No haze over the valley, so the streets and trees in the valley are more distinct.]

By October, the trees changing color meant more dots of red and brown in the valley when viewing from Hunter's Point.
[Two images stitched together showing even more of the hilltops in the foreground and more of the valley below and the mountains in the distance. While there is a haze of white over the valley, the air is not as thick and thus more detail is visible than of the other image with the haze. There are strings of white clouds just below the tops of the mountains as well as wispy ones higher in the sky. There are dots of red and green in the valley as some trees have changed color while others have not.]

Deer live on the preserve. (September image)
[Through the trees are an adult and a young deer. The lower vegation covers their legs and parts of the back of the small deer so not sure if it still has spots. The older deer is looking at the camera while the younger one faces the left which is the direction they are heading.]

This deer is taking a shortcut across the trail. (October image)
[A wide dirt path heads from the camera straight to the background of the image. A deer is walking from right to left perpendicular to the trail. There are dried tall grasses on either side of the trail with some trees up beyond the deer.]

A different portion of trail (August image)
[A wide dirt path heads from the camera under some trees which have formed an arch over the trail from branches from trees on either side meeting overhead. The trail then heads to the right and out of view.]

Farmland near the preserve (August image)
[Looking from atop a hillside at neat rows of green on a level below. Beyond that are more hills densely covered with trees.]

Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve
September 2005

Looking at the Santa Clara Valley where homes are located.
[View of a mound just below the one on which the camera is located and looking at the valley below with many trees interspersed with the buildings. The sky is very hazy in the distance.]

[The mound in front of the camera is mostly brown earth, but there are trees around it and many trees in the valley below. ]

Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve
September 2005

[Looking over a wheat-colored grassy field at multiple ridges thickly covered with dark green trees.]

[From a low ridge looking at a flat plain with some dirt roads weaving through the trees. In the background is a low mountain with mostly light groundcovering although it also has some sections of trees.]

Windy Hill Open Space Preserve
September 2005

The rolling hills of this area
[Some areas are covered with greenery, but others are just wheat-colored grasses and the hills and dales seem to be a haphazard layout in this area.]

Three deer bounding through the grasses, although one did stop to look at me.
[The three black-tailed deer are crossing a wheat-colored grassy field which is completely in the shade from the setting sun. In the distance is a hillside which still has full sun. In between in the shade are dark green trees.]
