Mendocino County - California
November 24-26 and December 24, 2004

Paul M. Dimmick Campground under the redwoods
[A white pickup truck sits by the wood posts parking the campsite. The redwoods behind the vehicle dwarf it and they aren't even completely in this vertical image because of their height.]

Kayaker in the Navarro River which abuts the Dimmick Campground
[A person with an oar held across a blue kayak is coming down the river toward the camera. The river has a brown tinge.]

Lots of huge driftwood at Navarro Beach Campground
[A sign marks the area in the image as closed to camping and fires. There are tree trunks on the beachhead.]

Climbed across this Navarro Beach shorelines to reach a friend's fishing spot.
[Either there was a rock-slide or the ocean washed up hundreds of small boulders which the ocean is lapping.]

After the rocks, we climbed across this dashing between the waves to get to the rock in the center left.
[There is a sea stack a few hundred yards out which is dry at the top, but the middle rocks and the ones closest to shore are getting parts lapped by waves.]

This is the fishing spot. Or it was until a wave crested over the head of my six-foot-tall friend.
[From atop the middle rock of the prior image thre is mostly water except for the dry rock. Two fishing poles and a net sit atop the rock at the bottom of the image.]

Mendocino Coast south of Navarro Beach
[The roadway winds atop short cliffs beside the ocean. The water is a beautiful blue some rocks in it. The hillsides below the road are dirt or rock, but the ones above the road do have trees.]

Bodega Bay in Sonoma County
[Many docks at the water's edge. Behind the docks is a large evergreen-covered hillside.]

Coastline view
[A curving coastline can be seen through the fog covering it. There is a tree right beside the camera, but the rest of the greenery is low ground cover.]

Another Pacific Ocean view
[Atop a hill looking down at a small valley to see the near waters of the ocean. A fog is covering the water a further distance from the shore.]

A view along a trail
[Atop a hill with a trail post in the foreground looking out at the mountains which are partially covered with clouds.]

Tree branches
[There is no greenery on the branches close to the trunk. There are so many branches coming out from the trunk at equidistant intervals they appear similar to the steps of a ladder.]
